First Day Questions



In high school I took two graphic design classes, one during my freshman year and another during my sophomore year, which both focused on Illustrator and Photoshop. In my senior year of high school I worked in ZBrush and created 3D characters.

I hope to achieve a better understanding of art and the programs that are used to make it in order to pursue an eventual career in the field.

Computers are essentially a gateway into visual studies now. Much of the art we see now is posted online for us to study, so it creates a more convenient and accessible relationship.

During my freshman and sophomore years of high school, I worked in Photoshop and Illustrator and created different projects that each used different techniques.

I do have a computer at home, though it does not have Photoshop or Illustrator on it.

I use a PC most of the time, but I have a laptop set aside for school work.

I hope to major in art, and in doing so move into the world of animation and character design.

I have a few favorite artists, most of them being online and not too specific.

My favorite musician is Billy Joel.

I enjoy doing a lot of digital art at home using the program Paint Tool SAI.

Rethinking the way we sit down - Reaction

     It's amazing how you can go from the romance of airplanes and designing such things to an interest in designing furniture, mainly office chairs. Niels Diffrient showed a great interest in those wonderful flying machines, but as they changed, he lost that romance and moved into designing furniture. It's quite a feat to spend 8 or 9 years on an office chair, but looking at the many things he had to accommodate for in the creation of said chair is pretty expansive. He had to look into how to properly distribute a person's weight in the chair, as well as their height so they could properly use the headrest and make the chair higher or lower to suit their needs. The recliner is also a very nice feature, which allows whoever sits in that chair to be able to relax while they work. Everyone is altered - Reaction

     It's amazing how much retouching goes into making actors look visually stunning in the film industry nowadays. Even when it's not an actor or actress and it's just some everyday object like a telephone, it has to be retouched and made to look perfect. The fact that we've come so far from just pills and plastic surgery to touching up actors digitally is a pretty long leap.

Movie Plot: "Just One Kill"

     "Most slashers are good at their jobs...then there's this guy."       Set in a modern-day New York City, the movie introduces us to the main character, who very much wants to be like every other horror movie slasher, like Ghost Face or Michael Myers. He goes by the name "Plateman" (what he calls his "slasher persona"), and prefers to stay secluded in his small apartment on the far side of the city, studying up on potential killing methods that could make him as great as the others. He's made his own terrifying mask and everything (a paper plate with an angry-looking face drawn crudely onto it)! He even shelled out enough money to get a decently-sized knife! Prepared for a killing spree, he sets out to find his victims.
